NEW WHALING COMPANY
RIGHTS UNDER LICENSE.
WORK IN NEW ZEALAND WATERS.
Confirmation of the report concerning the establishment of a new whaling company has been received at Dunedin. The company’s title is the British Antarctic Whaling Company. The capital is £225,000 and a strong board of directors has been secured in London. Provision is made in. the articles of association .for the appointment of local boards. The company is to/take over and acquire from Mr. John G. Neil all the rights in a license to be granted by the New Zealand Government to operate two whaling, vessels for a period of 21 years from September, 1931, in New Zealand mandated waters, including the Ross Sea, with the use of the Balleny Islands as a base. The company also takes over the benefit of an agreement entered into with the, Armstrong-Whitworth Coni-, pahy, for' building a ; whaling vessel i for' £350,000, and five chasers tor £1'05,000, delivery of these six vessels to be .frith-; in 11 months from the acceptance of the contract. The necessary financing of the company has been arranged? The firm of J. G. Neil and Company is appointed riianager of the company for a period of five years.
