CRIMES AND DROWNINGS

By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.

Sydney, Dec. 22, Christmas week was ushered in with a grim toll of 14 deaths.

Following the tragedy at Queanbeyan in which a husband shot his wife there have been two further domestic dramas, one resulting in the death of Crookwell, a grazier, and the wounding of his wife, and the second causing the critical wounding of a young married woman. ■ In addition there was a shooting fatality and four drownings. In one a father perished while trying to save his son.

Road smashes accounted for the remainder.
