MINERS REJECT TERMS

DEADLOCK AT BROKEN HILL. GLOOMY CHRISTMAS OUTLOOK. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Sydney, Dec. 22. The Broken Hill Workers’ Industrial Union at a largely attended meeting rejected the proposals of the mining companies in regard to - wages and conditions for the new year. Several other unions conditionally accepted the proposals, but ‘heir acceptance meant nothing as the miners hold the key to the situation and their definite refusal to entertain the terms practically meant the closing of the industry. The decision has put a damper on the city and Christmas will be anything but a bright one, as so many additional men are faced with unemployment.
