ACTIVITIES DURING, PAST YEAR.

BRANCH ASSOCIATION’S INTEREST.

The annual meeting of the New Plymouth High School Ojd Boys’ Association was held last night, Mr. F. Whitcombe presiding over a fair attendance. The following report was read:^—. : , “The annual ball was again a very marked success, both from a social and a financial: point of view. A profit of £7. Is 7d was made compared with £5 6s 3d in the previous year. The credit balance in this account ris now £l7 2s 9d. • ■ '.' .

‘.“Active Interest is being shown. by branch associations. The South Taranaki association is congratulated upon the success of its annual ball. This branch, which has been in existence only two years, has a credit balance of £42 10s Gd. ■ ' , •- ■’ , '-.

“This year. the football seniors won "the senior championship of Taranaki. Although the club has been in existence 11 years this . is,, the. first occasion on which it has w. l championship honours. It did so on this occasion through the combined efforts of the team aiid its coaches, Messrs. Masters, Bertrand and Doile, Tho junior and / third fifteens though not so successful did very well. “In the senior cricket competition the Old Boys team was runner-up to New Plymouth. Two of the members of this team, H. W. Browh-and A. Petty, represented Taranaki against the M.G.C. touring team. The senior B grade team won the competition by the clear margin of 10 pointe. The junior eleven also experienced a successful season, finishing the competition near the top of the ladder.

“The balance-sheet discloses a credit balitnce to the general fund of £22 3s lOd, a decrease of’.£B 3s 2d 1 ,0n last year’s figures. ‘ This deficiency is accounted for by, the loss on the complimentary dinner tended the Old Boys fifteen, and by the loss on a dance held early in the year.

“The proposed new rules of the association which were, forwarded tp . the various branches for perusal have met with.lXtle success, and it is feared that as both the Auckland and Wellington .branches refuse to accept these rules the association will have to abandon the idea of incorporation.” / v With regard to the Incorporation of branches with the parent association letters of objection were read from Auckland and Wellington and, upon the motion of Air. C. Fookes, delegate for the Wellington branch, the matter was deferred until the jubilee ijf 1932. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: President, Mr. L. Lovell; vice-presidents, Messrs. G. Fraser and R. Howell; treasurer, Mr, G. H. Holder; joint secretaries, Messrs. F. L. Read and K. F. Fookes; association delegates; Messrs. H. Anthony and J. H. Boon: auditor) Mr. W. Thomson. ' .
