NORTH WINS ON FIRST INNINGS.

KEEN FIELDING A FEATURE.

The annual cricket match between the North- and South' /.Taranaki primary school representatives was played at the N6w< Plymouth Boys’ High' School grounds yesterday and resulted in a win for North Taranaki by 16 runs on the first innings. Small'Scoring did not detract from the standard of play, but rather reflected thekeenness of the fielding, which was' a feature; of the game. The northern' team',opened and compiled a score 0f62, Bowen (19) and Grant (12) both’reaching double figures. Cropp bowled well for the visitors and took four wickets for 7 runs. •

South Taranaki replied with 46 and North Taranaki in its second strike made 75 for six wickets.

The boys were entertained at afternoon tea. Messrs.'Hurrie and Percy were in charge of the'visitors.
