FOUL MURDER ALLEGED
MAN ARRESTED AT SYDNEY.
SEARCH IN EVERY STATE.

Detectives who in all the States have covered thousands of miles searching for the murderer of Mena Griffiths, aged 12, at Bentleigli, near Melbourne, today arrested in Sydney Robert McMahon, aged 30, a labourer, on a provisional warrant from Victoria charging him with the murder of the girl, who was outraged before death. A message on November 13 stated that the girl was found dead in an empty house at Bentleigli with; a gag tightly knotted round her face.. The crime has aroused public opinion like no other for years. The girl’s companions saw her leave the playground with a man whom they described to the police.
