GOOD TYPE EXHIBITED., - JUDGES COMPLIMENT PUPILS. The judges of the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs calf-rearing 'ompetitions visited several schools in Central Taranaki yesterday. The standard of animals compared well with those judged in other districts. Mr. W.'McL’Dowie dealt with condition, Mr. H. J. Marchant judged for dairy type and Mr. R. Syme examined the charts. The judges complimented the children on the splendid type of calves brought forward and urged them to look after the animals during the year and to bring them back for re-judging as yearlings. The awards were:— HUIROA.

• NOVELTY IN “TEMPTATION.” Novelty of theme, real human interest touches and a tensely dramatic climax are*'a -few of -the elements in “Temptation,” showing to-night at the Eltham Theatre. The story is based on New York night life but it is not an underworld or cabaret orgy, story. Action commences when Larry Donovan, a weak but lovable character, is released from prison on parole. To elude gangsters; who seek to lure him back to a life of crime, he goes to New York. During the weeks of hardship that follow. lie falls in love with Julie Becker, a hard-working, self-supporting girl. Julie,- already engaged to a prosperous ■business man, Sam Gardon, does all in her power to discourage Donovan, although deep in her heart she loves him. Desperate at what he interprets as Julie’s coldness, Donovan plans to embark on a life of crime. How he is prevented from doing this by the quick action and splendid courage of Julie supplies a thrilling and thoroughly satisfying climax.
