KHA. ORA DEFEATS STRATFORD. TAIT STARS TO KIA ORA. A win for Kia Ora (Hawera) croquet players by 20 points was the result of an inter-club match played at Stratford on Tuesday. Mesdames Campbell and Kemp, 23—22 and 26 —21. ■ Mesdames Riera and Harkness v. Mesdames Milroy-and Meyrick, 13—24 and 26—26. ' . . Kia Ora players won the ,Tait Stars from Kaponga on the Kia Ora green at Hawera on Tuesday by 52 ; oints to 37. Opunake has challenged the holders and,. the match will be played on Tuesday next. MT. EGMONT ALPINE CLUB. THIS WEEK’S PROGRAMME. . Sunday next has been fixed for a club climb of the mountain by members of the Mt. Egmont Alpine Club. The snow is in splendid condition for climbing, and The trip will be found very much easier than the climb on scoria in the late summer, in fact the best climbing is obtained in December and the ascent is simplified, as conditions are usually favourable to safe glissading.. It is 'hoped to have big numbers turn out for these trips, and many should be able to see for "the first time the beauty of the erater while it is still in th ■ grip of its winter garb. Mr. Rod Syme will be leader of the main party and in order to avoid climbing in the heat of the day arrangements will Ixs made to leave Dawson Falls at 6 a.m. For those to whom this hour does not appeal a second party will be arranged to set out from Dawson Falls at 9.15 a.m. with Mr. Bert Murray as leader. This party will leave Hawera at 7.15 a.m. Any who do not wish to go beyond Fanthain’s Pwak will b® aide
to get a good day’s sport ski-ing and glissading in the vicinity of the hut. Splendid weather prevailed last weekend, when several parties of club members climbed Fantham’s Peak, where ski-ing and glissading'were enjoyed and work done in and around the hut.
