Proceeding to Cambridge, he covered ■S7 miles on fo.ot, pulling his canoe behipd. .him uptilhe at Taupo. He' for 50 miles along the lake to , Tokaanu. He traversed the Tongariro River 'for a- feiy 'miles and made ’ his way acrosa'National Park to Taumq.runui. The journey the Wanganui River.'took a week. During the ten weeks of his travels he was °under cover only five nights.
