Mr. E. A. Blundell, who left Wellington last April as a delegate to the Imperial Press conference, - returned to Wellington by the Maunganui on Monday. . Mr. J. H. Scullin, Australian Prime Minister, on Monday visited the British House of Commons, where Mr. Ramsay Mac Don aid and the Ministers farewelled him, states a London cable. The Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, accompanied by his wife and daughter, arrived at Kingston on Monday, says a London message. He was received by the Minister of Defence and the aides of the,President and Governor-General of the Irish Free State.

The King has approved the appointment of Sir Graeme Thomson, Governor of Nigeria, to be Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Ceylon in succession to Sir Herbert Stanley, states a British Official Wireless message.

The death occurred last week at fe Kuiti of Mr. E. T. Lever, aged 60, after a protracted illness. Mr. Lever had been in business in Te Kuiti 24 years, establishing one of the pioneer bakeries in that town. He went from Inglewood and .was one of a family of four brothers who were associated with the early business history of Te Kuiti. The family was also well known throughout Taranaki, Mr. Lover’s wife died before he went to Te Kuiti.

The Rev. Father George Mahoney, formerly of Nelson, Hastings and Wanganui, died last night at the Lewisham Hospital, Wellington, the Press Association reports. Father Mahoney was a son of the late Mr. Daniel Mahoney and came to New Zealand with his parents in 1874. He was educated at the Marist Brothers school and St. Patricks College in Wellington and afterwards underwent theological training. He was ordained at Wellington in 1898 and was afterwards stationed at Nelson, Hastings and Wanganui. His health failing, he retired from active ministration three years ago, since when he has resided at Wellington with his brother the Rev. Stanislaus Mahoney, parish priest, St. Mary of the Angels, Boulcott Street. Father Mahoney was 61 years of age.
