SIR DOUGLAS MAWSON SAILS. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 5.p p.m. Hobart, Nov. ,23. The Discovery with Sir Douglas Mawson’s expedition sailed for the south today. It was accorded an enthusiastic - send-off by crowds ashore and yachts in the harbour. Sh- Douglas Mawson in a farewell message thanked the people of Hobart -for their hospitality. He declared that- the value of the Antarctic would increase with better - knowledge of it. 1 The ship ; should reach Macquarie Island in seven or eight days and after a short stay it will proceed towards the ice. . ■ ■' : :.
