Tho rainfall at Uruth for October -was 8.31 inches, the maximum fall being 1.61 inches 'on the 24th. There were 23 days with rain. The Uruti-Okau herd-testing group, whlifh comprises 14 herds at Uruti, 8 at Ahititi, 3 at Tongapiorutu and 2 at Okau, was top group for October in the Taranaki Herd-Testing Association’s ’ list. Cows under test numbered. 574, had an average test of 4.5 and produced 36.99 lb of fat per cow 1 , The top herd of 45 cows had an average of 50.3, while the lowest herd (17 cows) averaged 27.61 b of fat. The highest cow produced 75 lb of fat for the month and the lowest 91b of fat. The Okau Road, which is being . repaiied, is impassable for motor traffic. The numerous" thunder storms lately have severely checked the milk supply. Mr.. J. R. Miller, who has been in hospital, where he underwent a slight operation, has returned home. M. ’V. Copman, who has been on the sick list, is progressing favourably. Miss G. Thomson, Hawera, is spendV ing a few days with Mrs. P. Thomson. Miss E. Dale, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. E. A. Jones.
