WHOLESALE grog-selling

STORIES OF THE KING COUNTRY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hamilton, Last Night. Allegations of wholesale grog selling in the King Country, particularly in tlie Ohura, were made by the Rev. G. IT. Goodman at the South Auckland Methodist Synod to-day. Mr. Goodman said that in the Ohura, although liquqpr was illegal, there were several hop beer shops where alcoholic liquor was sold openly over the counter. An advertisement appeared recently in a local paper stating that Ohura bootleggers, owing to the increased tariff on spirits, had raised the price of whisky from 25s to 30 a bottle.

A resolution was passed urging tfie authorities to “take immediate action to remedy these glaring evils.”
