TRAINS AND AEROPLANES METHODIST SYNOD’S OPINIONS. CAMBLING STERNLY DENOUNCED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hamilton, Last Night. At the South Auckland Methodist Synod this morning a resolution was passed urging the Government to bring pressure on the railways to discontinue excursion trains on Sunday. The synod gave hearty support to protests raised over Sunday flying, the followingresolution being carried: ‘‘This synod regards the growing practice of Sunday aviation at selected places for demonstration and for purposes of hire with tlio utmost disfavour and respectfully dvav.. ..ie attention of the responsible authorities to this illegal practice and deniands its immediate discontinuance.” The synod reaffirmed its belief in the principle of the Bible in schools regarding as a weakness the voluntary system of teaching the Bible as proposed in the new Bill. It recommended those concerned to reconsider the introduction of the previous provision for all teachers save those exempted for conscientious reasons to conduct classes in Bible reading.
