FITZROY SWIMMING CLUB

OPENING NIGHT AT BATHS. About 50 were present at the opening club night of the Fitzroy, Swimming Club at the New Plymouth municipal baths' last night. Mr. W. N. Stephenson, president of the club, _was present. The temperature of the water was much warmer than the atmosphere and a large number swam., Mr. J. Enwright, the well-known'Auckland swimmer and New Zealand champion, coached the senior polo team, and Barry Young, exNew. South Wales diving champion, gave an exhibition of diving. General training was also carried out by men and women for the eeason’s operations. Jim. Thomas, who is training for middle distance races, shaped well, and Miss J. Charters was also in good, form. It has been decided to commence aggregate races on December 2, divisions being provided for senior,, intermediate and junior men and women.
