NEW PLYMOUTH TRACK NOTES.
HOLIDAY CANDIDATES' TN WORK. (By “Moturoa.”) The New Plymouth course is in splendid order after the recent rain, and the course and appointments are a tribute to the attention bestowed upon them by Caretaker BleWman. In view of the approaching Feilding and holiday- meetings, the horses in the New Plymouth stables are being sent along and some interesting work was witnessed yesterday morning. The gallops were all done on the old course proper. . - # . #' * * . Belle Star (Eagar) and The Swell (Drinkwater) covered ten furlongs nicely, sprinting home the last quarter of a mile. Both look well and Belle Star was anxious to go faster. * # * * Kilmanu (Todd) worked smoothly on the plough. # # • # Green Patch (Drinkwaler), Tarigiroa (Olßrien) and Te Atiawa (Davis) -hopped off from the three. Te Atiawa led into the straight, but stopped badly and Tangiroa, finishing well on the inner, beat Green Patch by half a length in 40Jsec. # # # • Orapai (Marsh) moved off slowly from the six furlong post, being picked up at the half-mile by Gibraltar (L. George). Orapai was doing it easily over the last bit to win «y a neck in Imin. 23 l-ssec. The sectional times were 14 2-ssec., 27. 4-'ssec., 41 l-ascc. and 54sec. for tlTe first half mile., Orapai is very well just now.
Gold Dawn (Robinson) was given a round at half pace, coming home the ’last quarter slightly faster.
