‘NEW ZEALAND ALL RIGHT'

SANITY & SOBRIETY NEEDED SIR OTTO NIEMEYER OgTUMIST, FORMAL REPORT NOT YET READY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Nov. 17, ‘Given sanity and sobriety New Zealand will be all right,” declared Sir Otto Niemeyer, in an interview on board the Niagara, on which he’ is returning to England. "I think you have had some examples of the dangers ahead of you,” he added, “The question is whether heed will be paid to them. You cannot hope to escape entirely the effects of the world depression and there are bound to be reactions. A good many things, whicii in other days might have been desirable, cease to be desirable now. Anyhow, 1 am an optimist about Npw Zealand. I wish I were 65, and then I would stay here.” Sir Otto said he had not yet drafteu his report on banking and currency problems of New Zealand. It would be forwarded from England' to New Zealand in time to enable legislation to be prepared for Parliament next session if necessary. When his attention was drawn to the fact that he had been twice quoted by the Hon. E. A, Ransom, Sir Otto said that had nothing to do with his report. As a matter of fact he had written a letter to Mr. Ransom commenting upon certain questions that were outside the scope of. his inquiry, but in which he was personally interested. These included railway control. He had said Mr, Ransom might quote from the letter if he desired.
