SHIPPING SERVICE SUBSIDY

Christchurch, Last Night. , Support for the Southland Fanners Union in its demand that the subsidy should be withdrawn from the Mel-bourne-Bluff service was given to-day by the Canterbury Farmers’ Union ex-: eeutive. The question .had bebn referred to the finance committee and it was reported to the meeting to-day. that the committee had decided t<? support the Southland remit to the Dominion conference on the ground that trade at present between Australia and New Zealand was too one-sided owing to the tariff barrier in Australia against New Zealand goods.
