MENTION OF OCTOBER 11 WORKERS’ COMPENSATION BILL. VALUATION OF CROWN LANDS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Replying to Mr. H. T. Armstrong when the House of Representatives met to-day, the acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, said the Workers’ Compensation Bill had not yet been bef< Cabinet.. It would be considered by Cabinet shortly, after which he would be able to inform members when thi Bill would be placed before the House. Mr. J. A. Young asked whether there was a prospect of legislation being introduced this session providing that in eases where the rental value of Crown leases was reduced, such reduced value would apply for frceholding purposes. Mr. Ransom replied that it was intended to include in the Land Laws Amendment. Bill this session a clause which would meet the position. Mr. Ransom moved that, the House meet at 2.30 p.m. on Mondays for the remainder of the session. Replying to questions asked by the leaders of the O position parties, he said the object of the motion was to bring about the close of the session within a reasonable period. He hoped the business would be completed not later than October 11.

The motion was adopted. The New Zealand Institute Amendment Bill was introduced and read a first time.
