TAX IMPOSED ON SALARIES
£1,000,000 FOR UNEMPLOYMENT. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN MEASURE. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 9 p.m. Adelaide, Sept. 4. The Premier, Mr. L. L. Hill, announced to-day that the Government had decided to "impose a tax salaries at the rate of a shilling in the pound for the remaining nine months of the financial year. The tax is expected to yield £1,000,000 for the relief of unemployment.
