SEVEN MOTORS ‘CONVERTED’
YOUTHS ESCAPE THRASHING. ILL-HEALTH OF RINGLEADER. ' J By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Aug. 30. Unlawful conversion of seven motorcars accounted for the presence of three boys in the Children’s Court this morning. “Only your ill-health saves you from a severe thrashing by a constable,” said Mr. Mosley, S.M., to the ringleader, a boy aged 15. The others, both aged 14, escaped a birching because the Magistrate did not gee his way to letting one off and imposing the penalty on the others. The ringleader was placed under the supervision of the child welfare officer for'three years; the others were placed under supervision for one year each.
The case was the sequel to the disappearance last week of several motorears from parking places in the city.
