ADELAIDE STRIKE SPREADS. “RED INTERNATIONAL” METHODS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 5.5 p.m. Adelaide, Aug. 30. A strike of drivers was ordered by the South Australian branch of the Carters and Drivers Union to commence, but a large number refused to obey. Seamen have been given notice to cease work. A strike is intended to afford practical support to the Waterside Federation in its demand for a removal of volunteers from the wharves at Port Adelaide. The timber workers have decided to strike on Monday. Packers and storemen also adopted a strike decision, but will continue to work until instructed by the united disputes committee to cease.
Many men are said to be dissatisfied with the way in which the dispute is being managed. One delegates allegedly boasted: “We (meaning the Communist party) are running the strike on Red International lines;”
