THE KING TO VISIT GLAMIS
STORM IN THE HIGHLANDS. British Wireless. Rugby, Aug. 29. Final arrangements are now being made for the visit of the King and Queen to Glamis Castle to see the newborn Princess on Tuesday next. A violent electrical storm broke over the Scottish highlands early tliis morning. The lightning was perpetual for three hours, accompanied by thunder of unusual intensity.
The Duke of York was staying with the King at Balmoral and found himself unable to telephone to Glamis Castle, the storm having • cut off the communications.
The storm, besides doing much damage to property, had a devastating effect on cattle and on fish in rivers. Hundreds of salmon have been killed and the loss of cattle cannot be estimated.
