VERSATILITY AND VIRILITY

THE ACCOMODATING MR. SHAW. AQUATIGS INSTEAD Ob' SPEECH. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. .5.5 p.m.- London, Aug. 30. The versatility and virility of Mr. Bernard Shaw were demonstrated at the Independent Labour Party’s summer school at Malvern Links. By an oversight an invitation to Mr. Shaw to address the delegates was overlooked, and in response to a last minute telephone request Mr. Shaw arrived from Loudon. A party of/oflicials asked him the nature of his address, when Mr. Shaw replied that he was not making a speech but would not mind a batlie. He thereupon borrowed a bathing costume and proceeded, to the unbounded delight of the crowd, to give an exhibition, of lifesaving, floating and diving. Having another engagement, Mr. Shaw declined lunch, hurriedly dressed and departed.
