George Thomson, aged 20, who escaped from Albury gaol, led the detectives a thrilling chase early yesterday. After nis escape Thompson stole a racehorse from stables at Holbrook. He was intercepted by a detective 18 miles away, who sprang for the horse's bridle. The escapee, however, flung cayenne pepper in the detective’s eyes, leaped from the saddle and disappeared. Thomson escaped from gaol by pulling bricks from the wall of his cell and lowering himself over the prison wall with the aid of his blankets. SPORT
