MEDICAL ASSOCIATION’S VIEWS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Winnipeg, Aug. 27. The British. Medical Association devoted some time .to-day to migration within the Empire. The conference discussed the problems, and”it was generally agreed that Canada and Australia must stop immigration for the present until economic conditions . had been stabilised. A paper in this section was piesented. by Dr. Purdy, Sydney, sponsored by Dr. Barrett. ‘ . It was also agreed that medical inspection of immigrants'should be limited to a certificate from responsible medical authorities that the immigrant was not likely to become a burden to the State. A meticulous examination was unnecessary. It was finally agreed that the Dominion, while extending every facility to migrants and assisting their passage, should inform them that after their arrival in the Dominion the responsibility for ' their . success or failure must rest with the migrant and not with „the Government. . .
