SPEEDING CAR CAPSIZES

RECORD BREAKING ATTEMPT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Aug. 26. While a light car was continuing its record-breaking run from Auckland to Invercargill this morning it skidded in the shingle in Greta Cutting, North Canterbury, and somersaulted down a bank. The driver, A. McDonald, was unhurt, but the observer, H. Cuthbertson, was knocked unconscious for t wenty minutes. He recovered later and the car was brought back on to the .road under its own power and proceeded on its journey.
