EDUCATIONAL CHANGES

& ■ OLD BOYS. ATTACK THE REPORT. By Telegraph:—Press Association. Auckland, August 13. The Old Boys’ Association of the Auckland Grammar Schools in a considered and hostile opinion of the Atmore report invites the support “Not only of old boys of, the Auckland Grammar Schools but of old boys of all the historical State secondary schools to repel this attack on the schools to which we owe so much.” In the course of a long resolution the association asserts that the report displays unexpected hostility to the school spirit and tradition and an anxiety to destroy, school prestige. Amongst other objections it says that the proposed herding of all teachers into one class will depreciate the qualifications of secondary teachers and make education a dead thing without the lifeblood of personal interest.
