HULL WELCOMES FLIER
PRESENTATION MADE TO AMY HUGE CROWD LINES STREETS. HONOUR BESTOWED BY THE KING, British Wireless. Rugby, Aug. 11, Miss Amy Johnson was accorded a great welcome when she landed from her aeroplane Jason at the Hull municipal aerodrome this afternoon before going to her parents’ home for the first time since her flight to Australia. A huge crowd lined the roads in th® vicinity of the aerodrome and, after seeing her make a perfect landing, broke into tumultuous cheers. Miss Johnson was welcomed by th® Lord Mayor who afterwards, in the City Hall, presented her with an illuminated address in a silver gift casket and a silver globe on which the route qf her flight was indicated. Miss Johnson asked that the balance of the local testimonial fund, amounting to about £2OO, should be devoted to a scholarship in the science of aviation at Hull University College. 1 Their Majesties received Miss Amy Johnson at Buckingham Palace before her flight to Hull, The King invested her with the C.B.E,
