ROUND THE MOUNTAIN RACE
MEETING IN NEW PLYMQI TH. I.EAi.;!.'E CYCLE CLUB ACTIVITIES. Arrangements for the round the, mountain circular road race .were discussed at a meeting of the New Plymouth League Cycle Club last night. . There wore present Messrs. G. Tippens (chairman), C. ■€, Tippens, G. NT. Beer, L. Claffcy, R. Yardley, F.' Orbed), R. D. Sole, C. Lelirke, L. E. Smith and D. George (secretary). The secretary reported that the club had been granted'the New Zealand road championship and the North Island road championship. Donations of £lO from the Dunlop Rubber Co. and £2 JOs from the Grand Dance Committee (Mr. AV. Reid, secretary) were received. Donations of bicycles were received from the B.S.A. Co., A. G. Healing and Co., Reynolds and Co., Bennett, Ltd., and Arnold George. Notification of donations of trophies was received from Lightband and Wann and from Hope, Gibbous and Co.
After discussion it was decided not to bar the use of special road racing tyres in the race. A re vised road race programme was reviewed by the secretary. He pointed out that the value of the prizes had been slightly increased. It was decided to have the race round Inglewood as the fifth race in the series and the club championship. A social committee consisting of Messrs. D. George, R. Sole, H. Bocock, E; Knofflock and R. Yardley was appointed to arrange a dance to terminate the season. Messrs. L, Tuffery and A. E. White were added to the committee. It was decided to hold the horsejumping events on the mountain race, day as was done last year. • ’
