LONDON MARKETS. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. The Department of • Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated August 2, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:—■ Tallow."—Fair demand on spot for fine mutton at same price as last week. Little available of other descriptions. Market steady /or forward shipment. Fruit. —Market continues dull with slightly better demand for cold stored apples. Present quotations are: Apples, Stunner, 8s to 10s fid per case; Dougherty, 8s to 12s 6d; Delicious, 103 to 12s; Itokewood, 10s to 13s; Jonathan, 10s to Ils; Statesman, 8s to 12s; Stunners' (old stock, ex ship), clearing at as to Ss. Hemp. —Manila market quiet and slightly easier owing to reductions in Mexican prices. "K” grade, AugustOctober shipment sold at £22 as. Sisal: Good white Mexican now offered, c.i.f., England and C'tfutincnt, £23 las. African market continues dull. July-Septem-ber shipment, No. 1 fair average quality, sold £2l 10s; No. 2, £23 IFs, with sellers over. Good marks 10s more. New Zealand: Market stagnant and no first hand sales reported. Distressed parcel high-fair reported sold on spot at £22 10s. ■■ Wool.—Better tone reported in Bradford and general tendency, is against buyers. Present quotations for tops are: 64’s warp, 2s 4d to 2s 4|d; average, 2s 3d. to 2s old; sG’s, Is 7d to Is 7|d;50’s prepared, Is sd; 40’s, prepared, Is 2}d to Is 3d. . Oats—Better demand by consumers. English threshing has been delayed owing to rain. Best bold white offered 19s fid to 20s. Good spot inquiry for imported, but demand is limited for forward shipment. Plate fair average quality, August-September shipment, offered 12s 9d; Chillian, 13s 3d. Nominal value New Zealand “A” grade Gartons, JulyAugust shipment, 21s. Peas. —Maple, English, firm, with best making 44s fid. New crop is expected to be large, but weather has delayed harvesting. Imported market steady and small business in No. 1 New Zealand old crop at 58s. New crop quoted fibs, without firm offer, “A” grade Ta-o.uan-iau afloat sold G3s. Blues: No demand for colonial owing to liberal supplies of English and Dutch. Nominal value Tasmanian and New Zealand is not more than £ll per ton c.i.f. • . Beans. —English quiet. Old crop winter making 38s to 395; chotee spring 43s to 445. New crop promises well. Nothing doing in Chinese horse, Augac;October shipment offered £7 15s. Danish cocksfoot. —Prices firm for new crop, September-October shipment offering 75s per cwt., c.i.f.
