CAR CRASHES INTO POLE

INJURED PASSENGER DIES. DRIVER SUFFERS MINOR CUTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. At 10 o'clock last night a motor-car driven by Robert John Burling, of Taumarumli, crashed into a telegraph polo just after crossing the Takanini bridge on the Great South Road. The body of the car was partially wrecked. A passenger, Charles Simons, aged about 35, believed to be single, a jeweller of Taumarunui, died from injuries a few minutes after the smash. The driver escaped with minor cuts.
