WESTERN PARK BOARD

. BOWLING CLUB’S REQUESTS. The Western Park Board met in New’ Plymouth last night. Present: Messrs. F Hartnell (chairman), J. Lobb, R. J. Deare, V. Elliott, W. Shepherd, D. Hull and F, J. Hill (honorary secretary). The chairman was authorised to meet representatives of the West End Bowling Club to discuss a request from the club that the macrocarpa trees on the frontage near the Cutfield Road gate should either be cut or topped to obviate shadow on the greens. The meeting expressed an opinion against felling but in favour of topping to a specified height, the bowling club to carry out the work. It was decided to employ the caretaker four instead of three days a week at the rate of 14s a day until further notice. It.was decided to thank the Pukekura Park Board for a present of 7b pohutukawas planted ‘at the foot of the clay bank at the town end of the bowling green. • The annual meeting of . the board is to be held on August 28.
