GENERAL AND [PERSONAL ITEMS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Ratapiko was visited by a severs hailstorm during th© week, and in some places the hailstones were lying six inches deep. The moon was shining brightly soon afterwards and a number of people enjoyed “snow” balling. A euchre party was held in the hall on Tuesday night, but owing to counter attractions there was a small attendance. Miss Dot Hill and Miss Aggie Dodunski tied for the ladies’ first prize, Miss Hill won in the play-off and Miss Dodunski was awarded the second prize. Mr. Roy . Grigg secured the men’s first prize with Mr. M. Kuklinski second. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Grigg entertained a large number of friends at their residence in honour of the 21st birthday, of their younger son, Mr. Raymond Grier cv. Uii oo • A merry band of “tm-cannero serenaded Mr. and Mrs. Owen D. James,

who have just returned from their honeymoon, and conveyed to them best wishes for future happiness. The party was hospitably received by the bride’s mother, Mrs. 0. E. Wilson, at her residence, “Egmont View.” Mr. W. N. Willans has returned from a fortnight’s holiday in Wellington. Mrs. H. Telfer, Mana Road, left on Saturday morning for a short holiday in the Waikato district. Mr. and Mrs. R. Hill, Puniho, have been staying with Mr. and Mrs. Hill sen., Ratapiko. Mr. and Mrs. B. McGinty, New Plymouth, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. AL Nolan, Mana Road, during the week.

Mrs. Smith is visiting her sisters, Mrs. Lepper and Mrs. Downs; Ratapiko. Mr. and Mrs. J. Wells and their two sons leave to-morrow by private car for Auckland to see .the third Test football match on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. O. D. James have returned from a .visit to Wellington, where they saw the British v. Maori football match. . . . ’ "

’ Mr. and Mrs. Jack White, Cardiff, 'were renewing acquaintances in Ratapiko recently. Mr. --Les Ritter, Dannevirke, has been staying with his relatives at Ratapiko, Mr. and Mrs. E. Grigg. •

Mr. and Mrs. W. Bennett have left Ratapiko and have taken up their residence on the Junction Road .at Kaimata. jThe Bennett family will be missed greatly at Ratapiko, especially by the school committee, on which both Mr. and Mrs. BennCtt have been ardent workers.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe' Dodunski have left the district and are living in Inglewood.
