! .GENERAL AND PERSONAL ITEMS. ! — ■ (From Our Own Correspondent.) Those who had hoped to augment their income during the winter by opossum trapping, are finding the investment of a license none too profitable. Though trappers are fewer in number this year, they are having little success. The pelts are not as good as those taken in previous years. There was a splendid attendance at Monday’s card evening. About seventyplayers took part in the games, the successful competitors being Mrs. Thompson and Mr. L. Carey.' Miss Walton was. hostess at a very enjoyable bridge and euchre evening at the vicarage on Saturday. There were about 25 present. The milk supply .at. local factories is commencing to ’ increase. There is very little growth of grass but most farms have a good supply of hay and ensilage, which should ensure ample fodder until the pastures grow. The ensilage stacks appear better than usual and the judging to-day should' be interesting. Regarding early, spring growth, it is reported that noticeable' results are being obtained hi the lower Waikato by the application of ammoniated super-phosphate.
Messrs L. O’Sullivan and F. L. Gill left by motor on Sunday for Auckland.
Mies Walton is on a business visit to Wellington. < - Mr. H. Reale, with Mrs, Beale and family, has taken up residence at the post office. Mr. Beale assumes control this week.
After -a long illness, the death occurred .on Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ashby, of Mrs. Sorensen. "The interment took place at the Oniata cemetery on Monday. Mr. D. O’Sullivan, Waitoa, is visiting the Okato district.
