ART UNION FOR HOSPITALS
BOARD OFFERS SUGGESTION. >y Telegraph.—Prew Association. Waipukurau, Last Night. In view of the Health Department withdrawing subsidies the following resolution was passed at to-day’s meeting of the Waipukurau Hospital Board: That this board enters a strong protest against the attitude taken up by the Health Department in withholding subsidies on bequests and donations to hospital boards. A second resolution passed was that the board offer the suggestion that the Health Department confer with the Minister of Internal Affairs with a view to promoting a Dominion-wide art union, the net profits to be distributed to hospital boards pro rata in accordance with the respective capital valuations. The chairman (Mr. W. 11. Rathbone) contended that financial assistance for the sick, and needy was a greater claim than aero club and football art unions.
