BRIXTON PLUMPTON SPORT MOCKETT CUP STAKE OPENED. ONLY SIX IN THE OPEN STAKES:

The Waitara Coursing Ciubls gathering opened on the Brixton Plumpton yesterday in showery, bleak weather, when the early rounds of the Mockett Cup (maiden) and open stake were decided. Notwithstanding the unfavourable conditions the coursing was good and the hares made the sport extremely interesting. Dogs were entered from a wide area. Apart from the North Taranaki nominations there were dogs from Masterton, Te Aroha, Patea and Hawera. The concluding rounds of the two stakes will be decided this afternoon.
