The judging was completed in the Merino classes and. begun in the British breed classes. South-, downs were disappointingly, few, and this breed is in keen demand among fat lamb breeders. .1 Mr. D. Sidey, of North Canterbury, New Zealand, secured first and second awards for a Southdown ram, any age. Other New Zealand breeders showed, good quality woolled sheep, which included the champion Border Leicester ewe, described by the judge as a magnificent specimen, and entered by Mr. D. Grant, bf Timaru. The same exhibitor received third for a ewe under one year, second for a ewe over one year," third for a pen of two rains, second for a pen of two ewes, and second, for a group of Leicester rams and ewes
