PUNISHMENT OF CRIMES
SENTENCES AT HAMILTON. . By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hamilton, June 16. The following prisoners were sentenced in the Hamilton Supreme Court this morning by Mr. Justice Herdman: August Herman Dernier, for dangerous driving of a car so as to cause the death of Norman Steven Bradley, fined £lOO and had his driver’s license cancelled for three years; Rone Fairmama, for shooting another Maori so as to cause grievous bodily harm, three years’ reformative detention; Whare Matangi, for the theft of a horse, two years’ hard labour tßnd declared, a habitual criminal; Joseph Powell, for bookmaking at Huntly, fined £5O, with costs £10; Walter John Butters, aged 18, for indecent assault on a girl, three years’ reformative treatment; Donald Hayward, aged 27, for robbery with violence at Huntly, 12 months’ hard labour and reformative detention for a further two years; James Walter Barr Brown, for indecent assault on boys, five years' reformative treatment; Robert Edward Young, for an unnatural offence, three years’ reformative detention.'
