OPUNAKE NEWS
(From Our Own Correspondent.) ■ Mr, C. A. Wilkinson, M.P., addressed his constituents in Opunake on Friday evening. Mr. A. J. Brennan, chairman of the Town Board, presided over about 40 persons. A hearty vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. J. S. Tosland and seconded by Mr. J. C. O’Rorke, The vote was carried unanimously. The Catholic euchre party, as usual, was well attended in St. Patrick’s Hall on Friday evening. Miss V. Fever won the ladies’ first prize, and Mrs. M. Zurcher was second. Airs. R. McCallum secured the consolation. The men’s first prize was won by Mr. W. Fleming, with Air. R. Peat second, going to Mr. B. Connor. Mrs. Annis (Rahotu) won the special competition. The last euchre party in the Anglican Parish Hall was the best attended so far of the series. It w r as promoted by the Pihatna ladies. Mrs. F. Des Forges won the ladies’ first prize and Miss Dwan the consolation. Mr. G. Holmes won the men’s first prize and Air. M. Magee the consolation.
