RATAPIKO ITEMS. SOCIAL MOVEMENTS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A very enthusiastic, meeting of the young men of the Ratapiko district was held at Mr. Fred Hill’s residence on Friday night, when it was decided to hold a bachelors’ ball. Mr. Roy Clough was elected chairman of the committee and Mr. Fred Hill and Mr. Theo. Weldon joint secretaries. Very heavy frosts are being experienced in this district, but the bright sunny day« compensate for the extreme cold of the mornings and evenings. The Moa factory is now collecting cream every third day and most of the dairy herds are beginning to enjoy their winter holiday. Mr. and Mrs. J. Treader, who have sold their farm in Ratapiko, have departed for their future home in Wanganui. The Treader family were very popular residents and during their short stay have made many friends. Mr. and Mrs. Dust, Wanganui, have purchased Mr. Treader’s farm and are now in residence a J Ratapiko. Mr. and Mrs. AV. Ridge and Master Stan Ridge, Norsewood, are visiting Taranaki for the Jersey sales and are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. Gannaway, Ratapiko. Miss “Buster” Ever&field, Inglewood, spent the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. D. Mannix, Mana Road. Mr. Jack Fabish, Taumarunui, who some years ago was farming in Ratapiko, has been spending a holiday with his brother-in-law, Mr. W. Hurlihy, Kaimata Road.
Mr. Ridling has been in the district judging the root crops entered in the school children’s competition. There were fine entries from the Ratapiko school—Miss Mona Corbett, Masters John Kuklinski, Mick Kuklinski, Alan Martin and Bernard Kuklinski. Miss L. Pratt, Te Kuiti, is staying with her sister, Mrs. H. Telfer, Mana Road.
