THURSDAY FOOTBALL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Inglewood thirds were to have played Eltham at Inglewood, but Eltham forfeited, thus giving Inglewood three wins and no defeats. The Inglewood fifth grade met Stratford School at Inglewood yesterday and had a comfortable victory. The Inglewood forwards were too strong for Stratford and had the visitors defending most of the game. Inglewood scored at the beginning but it was not till towards the end of the second spell that it could break Stratford’s good defence again. Stratford worked into Inglewood’s twenty-five but was
soon driven back with a forward rush .and Inglewood failed to goal from a free kick. Play hung in Stratford’s twenty-five for a long time, School forcing twice, and half-time came without further score. At the beginning of the second spell School forced four times in quick succession, and a little later Burke landed a penalty goal for Inglewood' from an easy position. Inglewood tried .to open up but Stratford kept the line clear till from a forward rush Hanwright scored, a try -that was not converted..
