CHARACTER AND INTELLECT
THE IDEAL IN EDUCATION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, May 15. That character involves something much greater and wider than mere outward behaviour and that it is closely bound up with intellectual pursuits was the basis of the presidential address by Mr. Armour, headmaster of Wellington Boys’ College, to the conference of the 'Secondary 'Schools’ Association. There was a real danger in supposing that character-training, as applied to schools, was something apart from learning, and in the zeal to deyelop character they might easily make the mistake of looking upon character-training and success in intellectual pursuits as if they were incompatible, whereas they were closely interwoven.
