MeManaway, the well-known Rangitikel sportsman, bought Itwo yearling colts rt the Sydney sales, one being by" Weathervane—Historictte, and the other by Shillinglee—Restful. # # « * Mr. Evan Jones, formerly of Waitara aud now mine host of the Hunteivi.lle Hotel, still has a fancy for horses, and running on his property he has a Nigger Minstrel colt, which he picKcd up for a fiver, and which promises to turn out trumps later on. When purchased, the youngster was plainly in a bad way, and Mr. Jones was chaffed over his “bargain.” • However, care and attention, with a liberal diet of linseed oil,' have worked wonders, and the colt is now as livelv as a kitten. *'* * *

The hurdle jockeys, W. A. Rennie, J. H. Mcßae and A. J. Gilmer, whose terms of suspension were reduced to conclude on April 36, have been granted licenses. With the present shortage of hurdle horsemen, these capable riders should not be long in coming into the limelight again.
