SOLDIERS OPPOSE CHAKGE.

At the annual meeting qf the New Plymouth 'Returned Soldiers’ Association last night Mr. McKay suggested that they give some expression of opinion regarding the holding of Anzac Day on a Sunday. ' Tho chairman Capt. F. Hartnell) said that returned men strongly condemned any such change. They were of the opinion that Anzac Day should be reserved as a national day. Ho did not think any change would be considered by Parliament. Capt. Mac Diarmid said that whatever might be said about Anzac Day being more of a holiday in some centres it was not so in New Plymouth. Here it was observed as a holy day and certainly not as a holiday. It was resolved unanimously that tho association stand firm behind the executive in opposition to any proposal to alter the holding of Anzac Day to a Sunday. -
