KENNEL CLUB’S BALL
BRIGHT DRESSES; GAY MUSIC. SOME ORIGINAL COSTUMES. The Kennel Club Division of the Taranaki Agricultural Society held its plain, fancy dress and masquerade ball in the Agricultural Hull, New Plymouth, last evening. Multi-coloured decorations, bright dresses and gay music made the ball one to be remembered. Some of the fancy costumes lent a novel tone, while the masters of ceremonies, Messrs. P. Peters, S. Lealand and Sergeant-Major King, saw that no one lacked a partner. The lavish .supper was greatly enjoyed. One of the features of the evening was tho. lively music of McNeill’s Novelty Dance Band, visitors commenting upon its tone and quality. The prize-winners among the fancy dresses were: Lady’s fancy costume, Mrs. IV. Walshe (Maori wahine) 1, Miss O'Hara (Dutch dancer) 2; men’s fancy costume, Mr. Watson (Red Shadow); men’s most original costume, Mr. R. L. Frost (horseman). Other fancy costumes were: Miss Knott, Sailor Boy; Miss Jans, Gypsy: Miss James, Spanish Lady; Miss Crowe, Rompers: Miss S. O’Hara, Dutch Dancer; Miss N. Taylor, Gypsy Dancer; Mrs. Stonnell, Night; Miss Carthew, X’lames; Miss D. Smith, I’ierrot; Miss T. Lang, Spanish Lady; Miss Trixie Lang, Jockey; Miss H. McAuley, Early Victorian; Mr. S. Ward, Gay Caballero; Mr. T. Hoskin, Dutch. Boy; Mr. Beu Stevenson, Gentleman Pirate; Mr. C. I’ellew, Pierrot.
