URUTI NEWS
ELECTRIC LIGHTS IN HALL. Electric lights have been installed in tho Uruti hall. The plant is run by an engine. Thirteen lamps have been installed, six in the hall, one in each dressing room, two in the supper-room, one in the kitchen, one in the main entrance and the other in the engine room. The lights proved very successful. A euchre party and dance was held on Friday evening for the switching on of the lights and there was a very good attendance. The euchre prizes were won by Mr. Son Jones (first prize donated by Mr. A. Hoskins) and Mr. J. Allen (second), Mrs. J. Neal (first donated by the Rev. W. Scott) and Mrs. VV. Jones (second). The lucky spot prizes were won by Mr. Copman and Mr. F. Agate. The music was supplied by Miss E. O’Sullivan. The masters of ceremonies were Mr. E. J. Jones and A. Hoskins. There were, ten days with rain in April. The maximum fall, 1.21 inches, was on the 20th. The total fall for the month was 4,22 inches. The Rev. IV. Scott, while with a sporting party, slipped and fractured a small bone in his ankle. He is an inmate of the hospital. About 30. or <0 people gath?red. at the hall- for the Dv.nayoxi v. Sarron-fight at
Dunedin on Saturday. A collection wastaken up in aid of the electric lights and the sum of £1 0s Id was collected. The Uruti bridge is finished and workmen are shifting the buildings. The fillings on each side have to be done yet before any traffic will be able to pass over the new bridge.
