A charming story, which has captured the imagination of the newspapers, was recorded to-day. A Gloucester girl was betrothed to a wealthy young business man and had the choice o ( rich furs or sparkling jewels as a present. She declined all and said she would be happy if every blind man, woman and .child in Gloucestershire could be provided'with wireless sets. The news was revealed when a young man walked into the National Institute for the Blind and asked the cost of pro* viding and maintaining these seta for ever. Staggered officials worked out the cost and told him that it would be about £lO.OOO. “Very well, they have it,” said the man, who declined to give his name. “It isn’t my- gift, but -a present from my future wife,” lie said a he handed over the cheque.
