DETECTIVES TAKE PHONE BETS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, May 5. • David Guthrie Caldwell, aged 39, was fined £l6O for using a private house as a common gaming house. Detectives found two telephones and a radio in the house '‘ and, while awaiting the owner they took 47 bets, totalling £5l.
