.The Prime Minister was asked in the House of Commons whether he had yet reached a decision regarding the construction of the Channel tunnel or if he could fix any date when he hoped to bo able to announce the decision of the Committee of Imperial Defence on the subject. Mr. MacDonald replied that the report of the special committee which had examined the project was in the hands of the two or three various authorities that must consider it. This matter could not be settled in a day. It was the biggest scheme of national policy before the Government at the present time.
